Can you believe we’re fast-approaching a new year, a new decade even?
Before jumping into everything 2020 has in store for us, it’s important to first reflect on everything that happened in 2019. We don’t have to live in the past, but understanding where we’ve been is crucial to getting to where we want to be.
I always take December 31 off of work and spend the day reflecting on the previous year. I go through my journal and calendar entries and reflect on all the ups and downs and celebrations and failures that happened. Then, I take what I learned about myself during this process and decide what I want to have more of in my life in the year ahead, and what I want to leave behind me for good.
I’m not gonna sugar coat it—this type of deep reflection is emotionally hard work! But I promise it is worth it. Putting in this work before you jump into a new year will bring you all the closer to the most extraordinary version of YOU.
In this episode of Underneath the Clothes Podcast, I’m sharing:
- My step-by-step process for reflecting on the year.
- How I’m choosing my word for 2020 that represents my goals.
- How I close out each year by leaving any hurt, fear, anger, and guilt behind.
